Bending to break by A.L Hartwell | Book Review | Love Book Tours

I'm sharing this review today as part of the 'Love Book Tours' book tour. Thank you to them and to A.L Hartwell for a copy to read and review.

Olivia Heart has a tragic past and a closed heart. Focusing on her fledgling career to become a lawyer she doesn’t realize a moment of kindness, eight years ago, would be the undoing of all her hard work to remain hidden. Giving away her plane ticket in an act of defiance, Olivia seals her fate to a man who sees right through her.

My Review

The first page has a couple of grammatical errors / typos which made me scrunch up my nose and say to myself  'oh no, not another one' by one I mean one of those books that is full of errors that frustrate me. I have a thing about reading books with grammatical errors, typos etc. I tend to highlight them and sometimes take photos and send them to the publishers, just in case they haven't seen them yet.

Thankfully though the story content made up for those initial errors and you are drawn into the scene from page one. A clever opening chapter that gets you interested straight away. Continuing from there the story is well paced and keeps you hooked.

The different points of view within the story work well, it helped with the character building. I enjoyed the action, suspense and secrets. It was actually really well written so I was happy to overlook the odd typo and grammatical error.

I enjoyed this book and would happily recommend it to others, especially fans of enemies to lovers and dark romance. I'm looking forward to reading the next one, it will be interesting to see where the author takes it.

My Rating

4 out of 5 stars
